Acid Reflux Symptom
Many individuals suffer from stomach acid reflux. It is believed that this condition is on the rise among adults, as epidemiologic research has shown that 20 percent of adults are struggling to some extent, with the condition. There may be a number of different symptoms associated with stomach acid reflux. Heartburn, trouble swallowing, and a bitter taste in the mouth, are a few of the most common symptoms reported by patients. A chronic cough, constant hoarseness, and frequent nausea, are less common symptoms of the condition.

An individual may not be experiencing any symptoms of acid reflux, and still be roused by gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD), in the middle of the night, says one of the latest studies about the condition. The study followed a total of 48 adults, of which 9 were healthy and 39 had GERD, Reuters tells us. Of the group being monitored, 90 percent of the GERD patients had their sleep interrupted one or more times per night, while only 78 percent of the healthy people in the study awoke.

It was also reported that of the GERD patients who woke up in the middle of the night, only 16 percent of them woke up due to symptoms of heartburn. Individuals suffering from GERD have a problem with stomach acid returning back into the food pipe. You can expect to have heartburn a minimum of twice a week, when you are gastroesophageal reflux disease sufferer. You can help prevent heartburn, by raising the head of your bed, eating meals slowly, staying away from common heartburn triggers, such as acidic foods, reducing portions, adding living enzymes to your diet, avoiding eating within several hours of your bed time, and wearing clothes that afford you with plenty of room.

Two common remedies for GERD are H2 blocker medicines and antacids. There are a number of natural remedies for heartburn, that the Mayo Clinic suggests are productive herbal remedies, including chamomile, slippery elm, licorice, and marshmallow, and regularly exercising relaxation procedures, along with acupuncture, are also among these natural treatments.
